Sittin' here at our home base in Port-au-Prince. Just arrived yesterday after a night of travel (mostly uneventful besides a violin that took a mini vacation to Key West and we're hoping it makes it to PAP this week while we are still here). Being here is feeling odd, like I'm not really here and so familiar, like I never left, all at the same time. I feel semi ill-prepared mentally since the world wind that was last week happened, which included getting "vacated" from my apartment without notice 48 hours before leaving the country for a month, yesssssssss. So I'm not sure what's coming this summer or what my part is in it, but I'm hoping and praying it is just right:)
So another year and another camp! I'm here with Leah and new friend Megan with the goal of 4 weeks of camp and youth workshops. We are organizing to get ready for starting camp on Monday in Cite Soleil. This year is exciting because we are planning to be in Cite Soleil for one week, then set them up to finish three more weeks of youth workshops on their own. I have faith this will work because there are some brilliant leadership skills in that community (skills that put me to shame). After that we will head up north (bus adventure, here we come!) to do three more weeks in my homeland, Passé Catabois.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me and us in one way or another on this, yet again, adventure. I will try to update as I can. Leah will also be updating on her blog: http://makingrootspranrasin.blogspot.com/
