The Beach Encore
Saturday. We ventured to the beach for a little vacation, this being one of the last Saturdays I have with Annelies and Dustin. We set out in the morning walking because not many tap taps pass by on the weekend, but one found us for the first half of the journey. After walking the last half of the way, including through a huge desert valley, a mud-filled (cow pie filled) marsh, and the road up and over a small mountain in the heat, we arrived at the beach! The day was awesome. Beach, nap, sun, sand, swimming, oh. But part of the adventure was getting back. Walking, walking, walking to the point we were day dreaming about Santa Claus leaving us some bicycles just around the next bend. And at one point on the road we had to run because the biggest mosquitos I've seen here started attacking us. Needless to say, we were shouting Hallelujah when we saw the tap tap coming around the bend, especially because it was getting dark. I think we walked about 14 kilometers in total, but oh was it worth it.
