It's getting busy for me here. Everyday this week we've gotten another TB patient to add to the hospital. Rounds this morning took me an hour to do and it feels like we are running out of beds for people. Wow. I like it. I'm glad to be busy and feel like I'm contributing. And since my house is empty, I've been hanging out with the patients in the evenings, which is really helping with my creole. Frer Jal (the hospital guard) told me yesterday that my creole is: almost good. Wow, what a compliment considering language is my worst subject ever. It's very rewarding; a lot of the patients are just ready to pour their love on you and embrace you. Maybe it's just a show, but it's nice. Also, a lot of the patients are teenagers, which are my favorite patients ever. One girl, Nerlie, is always yelling at me to come, sit! And we talk for a while with the others in the room. Yesterday they were quizzing me on creole words...nice. She is sick though, and we're not sure what with. If you look at her she looks AIDS all the way, but multiple test have been negative. We've started her on TB meds because of her symptoms, but she almost looks like she has anorexia, but that doesn't exist here as far as Anne Marie has seen. Ah, but Nerlie has a spirit about her, always smiling and laughing. I hope we can figure out what's ailing her soon.

And Flaynez? Is breastfeeding! You heard me...She is doing both that and taking milk by spoon, but she looks so good. Her weight has been the same all week, so I'm waiting to see if she is getting enough milk to keep growing. But wow, she's a miracle thus far.

and ps, I did make a whole batch of cookies for myself.

I'm chowing down on "choc-o-lit" (as Luke would say) chip cookies as we speak. Miss you, love you. -Lindsey
